OUT OF
THE WATER
Moses, meaning “Out of the Water” is ultimately about salvation. Throughout the story, we repeatedly see this image of rescue - drawn out of the Nile when an infant, passing through the Red Sea, striking the rock and out came water, and his second strike in anger, leading him to never see the Promised Land.
Throughout antiquity, water is chaos, where only the gods venture. Remarkably, the origin story of Egypt also reflects on this theme, where out from the watery floods, Atum descended. From the worship of the Nile to the shepherd Moses, both worlds collide - the gods of Egypt verses the true God. It is a remarkable story that reverberates through the generations and lays the framework for Jesus. But why, one may ask?
